Like many companies, TAP offers its employees paid time off to support charity endeavours. We know that volunteers benefit from volunteering as much as the beneficiaries do: it improves wellbeing, skill set, team spirit, collaboration, and opens our eyes to the challenges that face our community and how we can help.
Recently a few members of the team returned to the Felix Project for the second year in a row. The Felix Project collects fresh, nutritious food that can’t be sold and delivers this surplus food to charities and schools so they can provide healthy meals to the most vulnerable in our society.
“We were assigned to the warehouse rather than the kitchen this time which was a lot of heavy lifting and working in the chillers/fridges. We were picking orders for community centres all over London – youth clubs, church groups, and schools – and making sure that they get the food and toiletries they need” ~ Kritagya.
“It’s always fulfilling volunteering at the Felix kitchen as you know that the waste from your greengrocers and supermarket chains are going to those who need it – as it should be. The staff there are lovely to get on with and it’s heart-warming that there is such great initiative to deliver help to those who need it across London” ~ Kritagya
“I think I can speak for everyone when I say it was an incredible experience. It felt so good being able to help out those less fortunate than us. They had us running around the warehouse all afternoon picking up food needed for each of the deliveries. It was a real eyeopener just seeing the volume of food which was donated and hopefully made into a delicious meal that evening. I can’t wait to help out again“ ~ Laycken.
