The Project
Ramblers, a century-old advocate for UK countryside access, needed to modernise its digital systems. Supported by People’s Postcode Lottery and Sports England, it sought unified data solutions. Tap CXM built a data warehouse, helping it achieve strategic goals and boost member engagement.
The Challenge
Ramblers faced several CXM challenges during their digital transformation:
- Siloed data systems: Data was stored separately, hindering reporting and real-time decision-making across digital platforms.
- Complex data movement: They needed a system to aggregate and transfer data between platforms for personalised communication and seamless authentication.
Tap CXM designed and implemented an operational data warehouse (ODW) to connect Ramblers’ CRM, email tools, website, and app. Using Talend as the ETL tool, the ODW enabled real-time data flows with minimal manual upkeep. This solution allowed Ramblers to authenticate members, manage uploads, and personalise communication seamlessly.
The ODW transformed Ramblers’ data management from a passive warehouse to an active processing system. It supports member authentication, surfaces insights for better decisions, and handles overlapping records. With minimal maintenance, Ramblers can now leverage data to drive strategic growth.
The key to enabling Ramblers’ digital transformation was designing an operational data warehouse that plays an active role in reporting, authentication and real-time data processing.
The Results
The collaboration between Tap CXM and Ramblers delivered significant results:
- Integrated data systems: The ODW connected multiple platforms, enhancing data accessibility and breaking down silos.
- Enhanced real-time reporting: Staff across departments use Tableau for dynamic analytics and personalised member communication.
- Improved member engagement: The integrated system supports user authentication, content personalisation, and efficient data management, boosting member retention.
